Volunteer Recruitment
The National Health Service Corps (NHSC)- If your community is a HPSA, your clinic may be eligible to be a NHSC approved site where you recruit and retain qualified health care clinicians who care about under served people and choose to work where they are needed most. Federally qualified health centers, rural health clinics, and other sites that care for low-income and uninsured people can become NHSC - approved sites where dentists, dental hygienists, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, physician assistants, and mental health professionals who are eligible for loan repayment funding or have received scholarships can fulfill their service obligation. These may be paid or volunteer positions. For more information visit The National Health Service Corps (NHSC).
M-SEARCH - A program being launched in 2010 by the Michigan Department of Community Health to place medical residents and other students in the medical professions at sites throughout Michigan in medically under served areas to gain experience in primary care fields. Free clinics could be considered for placement sites. Rotations at the site could range from a few weeks full-time to long term part-time arrangements.
AmeriCorps VISTA - Recruit VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members to serve at your clinic. VISTAs serve full-time for one year contracts and are paid by the federal government to help nonprofit organizations build their capacity to serve others.
